Don't Let Mold Infestations Curtail Your Runnemede Business! SERVPRO Works Hard to Keep Your Doors Open!

SERVPRO Keeps Runnemede Hotel Open During Commercial Mold Damage Remediation

It is common for people to expect pristine conditions when they stay in hotels, so the owner of a hotel in Runnemede was worried after spotting patches of mold on some of the walls. Closing down the premises to mitigate the damage was also worrisome because it would dent the hotel's revenues and turn away potential customers.

So, here is how our team would conduct the remediation. After notifying SERVPRO about the case of commercial mold damage in the Runnemede hotel, we opted to find ways to fix the damage without closing down the premises. By establishing that the infestation affected only some rooms and in most cases, in wall cavities and other hidden areas, we concluded that we could use engineering controls to isolate the affected areas for the remediation.

Our team set up a staging area for the equipment and set up containments with 6-mil polyethylene sheets to keep mold debris from reaching uncontaminated areas during the remediation process. Even with such containments, microscopic debris such as spores and dust can spread if the setup is not done correctly. Such a simple oversight would invalidate all the effort and expose guests to harmful materials. Whenever we set up containment, a technician confirms that it is airtight using a manometer. We maintain the IICRC recommended pressure differential of -0.2 inches when using negative air pressure machines.

With most of the mold in the hotel being from unaddressed leaks in the plumbing lines, repairs and thorough cleanup would provide a comprehensive solution. Our SERVPRO technicians set to work tearing down drywall and ceiling to access mold colonies in the cavities. We removed and double-bagged all porous materials affected by the mold. HEPA-filtered vacuuming all affected areas, and using antimicrobial cleaning agents was also crucial to remove mold debris and kill spores.

After removing almost all traces of the mold colonies and the musty smell it is associated with, we had to rebuild and finish the affected areas. Installing new wall panels and repainting areas ruined by processes such as wire brushing helped remove all traces of the mold infestation, "Like it never even happened."

Mold can bring down a business quietly. Call SERVPRO of Haddon Heights / Voorhees at (856) 566-3388 to help restore your facility. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.
